Michaela Cullen
Michaela Cullen is an Irish artist–filmmaker and creative director based in London, working across experimental film, sound, installation and research-led practice. Her work sits between fine art and cultural documentary, using moving image and sound to explore mythology, gender, power, identity and collective memory in ways that are emotionally charged as well as critically grounded. Years of involvement with galleries, cinemas, artist-led spaces and alternative education have shaped a practice that pays attention to context, process and audience as much as to the finished image.
She moves fluently between roles as director, cinematographer, editor, sound designer and composer, often holding an entire film or visual project from concept through to final delivery. That same breadth extends into brand and cultural commissions, where she brings a strong visual and sonic language to music videos, artist profiles and campaigns without flattening them into generic content. Alongside studio work, Michaela mentors emerging creatives, lectures, runs workshops and curates film programmes, drawing on her experience within collectives and DIY infrastructures to support others in navigating the industry. For projects that need someone who can think deeply, work across disciplines and keep the work socially and emotionally attuned, she is a natural fit.
